Solstice and Daddy

"Jungle Temple" by Drew John Tankersley

Happy sez-   Happy Fathers Day to all you fathers out there ( I know, I've heard the old joke about Happy Fathers Day you mothers) so we'll let that go, also happy summer solstice, the longest day of the year at least
in our part of the world.  In one way it is appropriate that fathers day falls on the longest day of the year because I believe that being a father, like being a mother, is a long job, a job, and a blessing, that never ends.  The longest day here, the shortest day in the southern hemisphere, is again a day that shows, not just in symbolism, but in celestial movement that all things come in cycles, from the fulfillment of the promise of spring to the birth of winters end bringing life's renewal. So it is that today there are two special moments in time, fathers day and the summer solstice and I suspect there will be a lot of picnics and parties, barbeques and beers in commemoration of both occasions.  Enjoy the day and savor the moment.
