D. J. Tankersley lives in the American southwest and did not start painting until his 50s, when hit by sudden urge to put some color on canvas when he saw some old paint brushes in his friends trash, he dug them out bought a few tubes of paint and began to satisfy the urge to paint color.  He once told me that the feeling of  holding a brush in his fingers while running it through oil paint and on canvas is almost sensual.  He also told me he can never plan on or know what he is going to paint, his finger, hand and subconscious takes on a life of their own, indeed many times he has told me that he would stop in mid brushstroke realizing the paining was complete.  He will not sell any of his paintings, but occasionally does commissions.  Over 25 of his paintings are available on a large variety of products from.www.zazzle.happycolorscoolstuff*
