What Your Looking For

"Sky on a Green and Purple Night" by Drew John Tankersley

Happy sez-  When I was a young shiny faced lad all aglow with bright hopes and good wishes I looked upon people with kind of a Will Rogers spirit that there is good in everyone and I liked everyone.  A good and constructive attitude especially among the young, the way we
should all be if we are ever going to have a world close to that.  However now that the shine has worn off my face and has been replaced with wrinkles and wear I have a more cynical look at my fellow man with a tendency to reach around to see where the knife is stuck in.   Perhaps it is just the decades piling up but it seems to me that we are not only not looking for the good in the other guy but if we find it we try to destroy it along with any good in ourselves, all the while complaining what a hard world it is.  The world is not and probably will never be a utopia as long as the current version of human is about, but that does not mean that we should not make this world the best we can for ourselves as well as all our fellow creatures and in order to do that we must make ourselves the best we can be and we don't do that by not only looking for but insisting that we find the worst in our fellow man. While some people may be mostly bad and some people may be mostly good, I think the old saying that you find what your looking for may be true, you seek evil in someone you will find it, you seek good in someone you will find it.  It all depends what your looking for.
