"Desert Nights" by drew John Tankersley |
Happy sez- For those of you that have watched the old Andy Griffith Show from the 1960s, you might remember the episodes that featured the
"Darling Family" played by the Dillards, a great bluegrass band that plays old hill music, a true folk band keeping alive our history and heritage. On one of the episodes Charlene Darling, played by the talented Maggie Peterson, sings a song written by Rodney Dillard and Mitch Jayne, about life that is simply beautiful and oh so true. The song "There is a Time" follows the life cycle that we all live, a melancholy cycle of life that ends for us all with the grey cynicism of sophistication that comes with the lost of innocence, reminding us that our only protection against the cold is love. As our path grows older, the song says, and the woods become grey it is the warmth of love that protects us against the oncoming cold. Even though the winter may come to all of us it is not the end of the cycle for we have seen enough springs to know that the leaves will green once again and once again the world will become new and we know that, we through our life's legacy, will live anew. It is that Divine Gift of Love that not only gives warmth to our hearts and meaning to our lives but it is that love that is our life, our existence, our souls. Thank God!
